R Bar Wood Art
The path to becoming an artist wasn't apparent for Ken until he was well into retirement. Ken's family owned and operated the R Bar Ranch in Oklahoma. When Ken was a young boy he was enamored by the trees and wildlife on the ranch. His later years were spent in the corporate world and operating businesses of his own.
In 2014, Ken was introduced to woodturning and his world was forever changed! It was then that he rediscovered his childhood love of being surrounded by wood. With his senses now heightened by his newly developed skill of turning wood into artistic creations, he reveled in the challenge of shaping wood harvested from rescued trees into unique artistic pieces. His art is formed depending upon the grain, color and “personality” he finds in the wood while also using embellishments such as texturing, dyes and stone inlays to further enhance the wood’s beauty. The artistry of creating with wood has been a journey filled with passion. Ken is always searching for new artistic releases for his passion of wood art. He draws upon his Native American heritage for inspiration in his designs. To replicate the look of Native American basket weaving and pottery carved into solid wood gives him the greatest satisfaction.
Every piece Ken creates carries his family's brand - the R Bar.
Ken and his wife currently reside in Cedar City, Utah.
